Winter wonderland

Well here we are at the end of 2013, time to reflect and look forward to adventures ahead.Santa is still making his way around and hopefully you have all landed on the "Nice list" and get your wishes fulfilled. Then again, if not fresh start is just around the corner.

For us at Palette CAD this year seemed to be one of the shortest ever. It certainly was filled with innovation, expansion and excitement. We saw the introduction of Palette CAD 8 in international markets and it's proved to be a big hit with the users. Now available in eight languages, world-wide support, user driven social media groups and YouTube channels and being put to awesome use as far as Down Under. We have also had major updates in our tiling, sanitary and tiled stove libraries as well as adding architecture and interior design to our range.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our users and partners for their continued custom and input. Here below a few user designs from throughout 2013, posted in our Facebook group.

Christian Stappenbeck
Of course there is much more to come in 2014. Within the first quarter we can look forward to Palette CAD 8.1 update (more in-depth info soon), library updates for wood engineering, interior design, tiling as well as tiled stoves and fireplaces.

Next year also marks 20 years of Palette CAD. We have come a long way since but there is no signs of slowing down. We are already very busy with our internet planning projects Palette@Home and Palette4Business, working on a 64bit version of Palette CAD, making further inroads with augmented reality development as well as working on the next version of Palette CAD of course.

More on all this throughout 2014 but for now I wish you all the best for the holiday season and for the coming year.

Tip of the month! December: Using “Save +1” feature

There is a very useful but a little known feature in Palette CAD that allows you to save a design over and over again by adding numbers to the end of the file name. This little gem is “Save +1” and it is a fantastic way to save time if you want to present a potential customer with the same design but with a number of small variations, such as different paint options or tile designs.

For the first time just save your work as normal and give your plan an appropriate name. In my example I used “Winter Bathroom”.

Underneath you can see the finished design.

Now I exchanged the dark and light tiles for one another and chose darker wood in order to present both options to my potential customer. I still want the opportunity to keep both plans so now I save this my plan with “Save +1”.

This now creates another file “Winter Bathroom_1” and gives me the below look. I can now keep and edit both plans further.

There it is, easy peasy. Try it out for yourselves and have fun with it!!

Seasonal greetings from Stuttgart,

Tip of the month! November: Pick your “Favorites”

For many users that use Palette CAD day in day out it is often a little time consuming to constantly look through catalogues in order to find the same items over and over again. Luckily a solution already exists and all that needs to be done is to save your frequently used objects and materials under favorites.
As seen in the image below, simply find the desired object/material in your catalogues and right click on them. A context menu will pop up and here you can select “Add to favorites”.

Now the next time you wish to use these items again you can quickly and easily find them under “Favorites” found at top of the menu bar on the left hand side.

We hope this tip will free up some of your time and don’t forget you can always find more at our other Palette CAD information platforms listed below.

Take a look at our YouTube channel for more support, branch and feature specific information and support.

To share your work, receive tips, tricks and feedback from other users, as well as Palette CAD staff just join and post in our International Facebook group.

Above all, make sure you have fun!

Greetings from Stuttgart,
