We're all going on a summer holiday

July, mountain of work, scorching temperatures, well mid 20s anyway, and time for a summer holiday, or at least wishing of one. That just about sums it up for another month as the weather turns with a vengeance. Below you can see my enthusiasm for a tropical getaway where I used one of our old plans and quickly turned it into wishful thinking as well a potential piece of marketing for holiday makers. The possibilities of Palette CAD 8 are only limited by your imagination!

Our focus here at head office has been on the upcoming updates for the tiling and sanitary catalogues. Speaking of tiling, I can also announce we will be present once again at Cersaie between 23-27 September. You can find us in Hall 15 A at Stand H9, so make sure you stop by and say hello! If last years show is anything to go by it's going to be another fascinating week.

Another great announcement this month is the development of our YouTube channel. Available for your viewing pleasure, in a number of different languages, it features camera flights, animations, product highlights as well as help topics. Below is an example of a camera flight through a coffee shop in photo-realistic representation.

Finally I would like to give a special mention to a great online service that I was recently made aware of. It comes from Cometdocs, who provide free, online document management system. They started out as an online file conversion service but now offer many more free of charge features including document sharing, transfer and storage. I found it especially useful for it's PDF to DWG/DFX format conversions as well as numerous CAD related help topics and blogs. Check it out yourself here.

That's it for July, no more working for a week or two! I hope to survive this heatwave and bring you more Palette CAD latest next month.

Tip of the month! July: Axonometric mode settings

Axonometric view is a great way see your entire design. Using "Rotate axonometric" feature allows you to fully rotate your plan and see it from a number of different angles. The default setting for this feature allows for a single operation, until you release the left button mouse on your mouse, that is. At this point the feature is ended. This can be very frustrating and time consuming if you wish to rotate your plan a number of times, as you have to start the feature each time.

Luckily the settings for this feature can be edited allowing you to continuously use "Rotate axonometric", until you manually decide to end it. To change this setting select the "File" tab, then "Program settings" on the left side bar and open "Program settings".

From the window that opens please select "Sceneries", "Compatibility" and then remove the tick from "Terminate Rotate Axonometric view and Pan Zoom when releasing mouse button". Now select OK.

From now on you can keep rotating the plan as long as you want and the feature is started exactly the same. The difference is, that in order to terminate "Rotate axonometric" you need to click the right side button on your mouse.

That's it. Another month, another time saving tip. Have fun with it!
